The film ‘Ramita Ko Pirati’ has been cleared for screening for now. The Patan High Court, while hearing a petition filed against the movie, ruled that there is no need to issue an interim order to halt its screening at this time.
A single bench of Judge Lal Bahadur Kunwar also ordered the Film Development Board and the production company Shiro Films Pvt. Ltd. to submit written responses within 15 days, excluding travel time.
The court stated that since the film has already been reviewed and approved by the Central Film Censorship Committee, there is no need to issue an immediate interim order. On Monday, advocates Srishti Bhatt and Laxmi Tamang argued on behalf of the petitioners.
The two lawyers had filed a writ petition seeking a ban on the film’s release, claiming that it spreads hatred against men. The petition named the Film Development Board, Shiro Films Pvt. Ltd., executive producer Annapurna Sharma (Ana Sharma), writer Sudipta Adhikari, and producer Sagar Lamsal as defendants.
‘Ramita Ko Pirati’ is currently being screened in cinemas. The court’s final verdict is still pending.
